Today we will understand the case of a patient, Sapna (name changed, 24 years old), who came to me. This is a true story which is being narrated for your understanding. Sapna had tooth pain and the decay had increased so much that I advised her to have a root canal, which required about 2-3 visits. She was getting married in 7 days and since she was very busy, she insisted that if she could suppress the pain by giving medicine now, she would come back later for proper treatment.
Since dental problems are rarely cured by medicine alone, we completed the first phase of her treatment at my insistence. Since the infection was severe and due to lack of time, I prescribed her the usual antibiotics and painkillers and asked her to return for treatment as soon as possible after her wedding. Sapna's toothache had subsided in the first phase of treatment, but the treatment was not complete. Medicine was to be taken only when necessary and there were still 2 phases of treatment left.
“Only if there is pain can there be any problem” - thinking something like this, Sapna started completing the treatment. Now she was so absorbed in worldly life that despite having pain 2-3 times in between, she would take the medicine I prescribed herself due to lack of time and did not even think it was right to show it to me! Slowly, 1.5 years passed by doing this. One night, she could not sleep due to unbearable pain. By morning, her left cheek was swollen and she also had a fever. Despite this, I thought it was right to take antibiotics again and continued. The problem increased and the pus now started to come out through the skin under the jaw.
