Myth: Dental Checkup Is Needed Only If There Is Pain In The Teeth!

This is one of the biggest misconceptions! I often have to explain to patients that “many oral diseases, especially tooth decay, oral cancer, and pyorrhea (gum disease), do not cause pain in the early stages.” By the time symptoms appear, the problem is much bigger.
Even if a decayed tooth has a cavity and food is trapped, we will clean it with a toothpick, but we act as if we are unaware of the seriousness of the infection that can infect the tooth's nerve. In pyorrhea, sometimes the gums bleed initially and the tooth is tender but not painful, so it is not our priority. If we wait to get it checked, most of the time, gum surgery, root canal or tooth extraction may be required in such cases.
Many times, a month passes with a lump or swelling in the mouth, but we don't have time to see a doctor! Finally, when the cancer progresses, we rush to Mumbai and Delhi, make acquaintances to get an appointment with the best surgeon, and spend a lot of money, but the person cannot be saved. Why all this?
The irony is that we don't focus on our health first because we are busy earning but later we have to spend all our savings on health problems. In fact, it has become our nature to build dams when water comes.
Negligence can become a big liability for the future and increases the risk of pain, expenses and treatment. If you pay, you will pay! The best solution is to save natural teeth on time. Here it is obvious that I recommend not to be careless. Regular checkups can avoid more time-consuming and expensive treatments. Even if there is no dental pain, we recommend seeing a dentist twice a year for regular cleaning and examination. "Prevention is better than cure!"
