What is the best time to treat tooth decay

Tooth decay, also known as dental caries or cavities, is actually a cavity in the hard outer covering of the tooth - the enamel. This breakdown is caused by acid (a process called demineralization) produced by bacteria in dental plaque and tartar. Initially, the acid makes small pits in the tooth, making the enamel porous. Gradually, this decay will penetrate deeper into the tooth, making it hollow like a cavity that collapses due to the inability to bear the weight of chewing hard foods.

In the beginning of decay, only food will get stuck in the tooth but there will be no pain. Due to lack of interdental cleaning, this decay will increase which sometimes causes sensitivity in the tooth on consuming cold drinks and sweet things. I would consider it as a sign from nature that there is something wrong and it should be resolved by showing it to the doctor. But since such pain subsides on its own within a few seconds, it usually does not become a priority for us. At this time, the root of your tooth is constantly fighting the infection and will survive until its immune system responds. In fact, treating the root of the tooth at this stage can make it disease-free. At such a time, only the decay is cleaned and the cavity is filled with tooth-colored cement. Moreover, this treatment will take only one appointment and it will also save you from big expenses in the future due to negligence.

Others understand it only when the time comes! Usually, the patient avoids eating from the side where the pain is, so they feel partial relief from the pain. But they forget that the decay has not yet been removed from there. When such decay gradually reaches the nerve of the tooth and causes permanent damage to it, we experience unbearable pain. Now, since this pain does not stop on its own, you will feel the need to take a painkiller immediately. Since most of the time, this pain is suppressed with medicine, this disease is still not a priority for the patient! It happened that he had a fever and it also reduced by taking medicine, but have you thought about why the fever occurred? If the disease is not treated at the root, the fever may return, in the same way, many times, due to re-infection in such a rotten tooth or its breakage, unbearable pain and discomfort will occur and now you inevitably have to go to the dentist. At such times, the doctor advises you to have a root canal and a cap placed on the tooth, which will cost five to ten times more than the treatment of saving the tooth with cement. In a way, we are lucky that despite removing the tooth decay in this treatment, we will be able to use it for another 8-10 years. But the misfortune is that we ourselves have reduced the life of the tooth due to our carelessness.

Since treatment is expensive at such times, I have seen many patients insisting that the doctor prescribe strong medicines to suppress the pain instead of treatment. But since the medicines also work only up to a certain level, the desired relief from the problems is not provided. Often, by the time such patients come to us, only a fragment of the tooth is left (since there is no option to save it), so we have to extract it. Since losing a single tooth hardly makes a difference, after hearing the extremely expensive options given by the doctor to replace it, we will give them the title of robbers or businessmen. The patient who says that dentists are very expensive forgets that he himself has invited such expensive treatment due to his own laziness. The patient himself is responsible for the mistake of underestimating the importance of primary care and the problems that arise due to it.

What initially cost 2-3 rupees has now reached 25-50 rupees due to your carelessness. Generally, you must have experienced in cars/machines that if we do not get it serviced on time, then we have to incur huge expenses later. Our body is also a complex machine made by nature which also needs timely repairs. The advice given to get a new tooth is in your interest. Still, if you underestimate its importance, wisdom will definitely come later but we will have to pay a heavy price for it!

Only those who do not have teeth know the true value of teeth. In the end, I will only say that your carelessness makes dental treatment expensive. If the pain you experience and the discomfort of chewing food without teeth is not a kind of disability, then what else is it? Corona has taught us that the health of every family member is more important than spending on a superficial lifestyle. Now you have to think whether the priority for you is a 25-35 thousand smartphone (which will last only 2-3 years) or the lifelong relief obtained through treatment!
